Talk Pregnancy with Dr. Noella Secures Public Health Partnership to Scale Preconception Care in Cameroon

North West Region, Cameroon – We are proud to announce a strategic and impactful partnership between Talk Pregnancy with Dr. Noella and the Ministry of Public Health, facilitated through the North West Regional Delegation of Public Health, to officially integrate preconception care into the public healthcare system.

This milestone marks the beginning of a systematic rollout of preconception care services in six health facilities across three health districts in the North West Region. The goal is to lay the foundation for a national model that ensures every man and woman of reproductive age (15–49 years) receives comprehensive health screening and counseling before pregnancy.

Training Health Professionals to Lead the Change

As part of this collaboration, we successfully trained 10 Medical Doctors and 10 nurses on structured national guidelines for practicing preconception care. The training was enriched by contributions from:

  • The North West Regional Delegate of Public Health – Dr Ambe Lionel

  • The Focal Person for Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) in the region – Madam Ayama Carine

  • Experienced Gynecologists and Public Health Specialists- Dr Ombaku Kingsley, Dr Mforteh Ascensius

New clinical tools, protocols, and monitoring systems were introduced to enhance delivery and ensure sustainability.

“Preconception care is one of the missing links in reducing maternal deaths and complications. This collaboration is a huge step toward strengthening the health system,” said Dr. Gwanyama Noella, Founder of Talk Pregnancy with Dr. Noella.

Expected Outcomes of This Partnership

This initiative will contribute to:

Reducing maternal and neonatal mortality by identifying and managing health risks before pregnancy begins.
-Preventing unintended pregnancies through informed reproductive choices and early counseling.
Enhancing early detection and treatment of health conditions in men and women of reproductive age.
Establishing a monitoring and evaluation system to guide national-scale preconception care services.

By integrating preconception care into public facilities, we move from community-only outreach to institutionalized care—making it easier for healthcare workers to deliver consistent, measurable, and quality reproductive health services.

Why This Matters for the Future

This partnership positions Talk Pregnancy with Dr. Noella as a policy-shaping organization in reproductive health, helping to transform care delivery in Cameroon. It will:

  • Enable data-driven planning at the national level

  • Attract funding and technical support from global health partners

  • Promote long-term sustainability by embedding care into the public sector

  • Improve the quality of life for women, men, and families in underserved communities

Next Steps

The initiative will be monitored over the next six months with clear indicators for scale-up, additional training for health personnel, and technical support for data reporting and policy development.

We welcome partnerships, collaborations, and support from stakeholders passionate about reducing maternal mortality, advancing reproductive health, and innovating health systems in Africa.
